This 12 months course is offered to existing Graduates in Mechanical Engineering who want to change their career path to marine Engineering.
The course is duly approved the Directorate General of Shipping. The syllabi comprises of subject related to Marine engines and extensive workshop practices.
Candidates become eligible to take up a career at sea as a junior / trainee engineer after completing GME and mandatory STCW courses. After 6 months of sea service on board merchant vessels they become eligible to write Class IV Part ‘B’ examination (Class IV Part ‘A’ examination, being exempted on the strength of the Degree awarded). Thereafter a Class IV Certificate of Competency is awarded by the Mercantile Marine Department, Government of India.
Subsequently, they become Certified Engineer officers of Merchant Marine and are free to take up lucrative careers within the Shipping industry world-wide.
Eligibility
The minimum criteria for selection of Graduate Marine Engineering candidates at FLEET:
Age: Maximum 24 years on the date of course commencement.
Education: 70% above in 10th, 12th. Graduation (Mechanical Engineering) with no backlogs.
