Dr. Harindarpal (“Harry”) Singh Banga founded The Caravel Group in 2013 and has been the driving force behind its establishment, growth, and expansion. Dr. Banga remains actively involved in managing the Group and serves on the Board (and Chairs) of Caravel’s subsidiary companies, including Fleet Management Limited, as well as all Management Committees.
He also serves on the Board of Directors of Pacific Basin, one of the world’s leading dry bulk shipping companies, of which The Caravel Group is the largest shareholder.
Prior to founding The Caravel Group, Dr. Banga was the Vice Chairman of Noble Group, a leading global commodity supply chain manager listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, which he co-founded in 1989.
In 2011, the President of India, Mrs Pratibha Patil, awarded Dr. Banga with the prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award in recognition of his exceptional contributions to business, his role in enhancing India's global reputation, and his support for Indian people overseas.
In 2019, Dr. Banga was honoured by the Economic Times as the “Most Influential Business Leader of Asia” during the Asian Business Leaders Conclave. In 2020, Dr. Banga was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from the City University of Hong Kong for his significant contributions to education and philanthropy over the years.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Banga has received numerous accolades. He also serves as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Cyprus in both the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions.

Angad Banga is Group Chief Executive Officer of The Caravel Group, a diversified conglomerate headquartered in Hong Kong with interests spanning maritime services, investment management, and the trading of industrial dry bulk raw materials. He is responsible for the performance of the Group's three core divisions: Caravel Maritime, Caravel Resources, and Caravel Asset Management. He also leads capital allocation, strategic direction, and investments across the Caravel enterprise, including the Group's portfolio of maritime assets, strategic stakes in maritime operating companies, real estate, and financial investments.
Angad joined The Caravel Group at its inception and served as Group Chief Operating Officer from 2016 to 2025. During this period, he was instrumental in the strategic transformation of the Group into the diversified organisation it is today—establishing new business lines, delivering strong investment performance, and enhancing the capabilities of the Group's core operations.
Angad serves as Executive Director of Fleet Management Limited, the Group's largest operating company and the world's second-largest third-party ship manager.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Pacific Basin, one of the world’s leading dry bulk shipping companies, of which The Caravel Group is the largest shareholder.
Beyond his executive responsibilities, Angad is a Board Member of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board, where he serves as Chairman of the Promotion and External Relations Committee, and a Member of the West of England P&I Club's Member Committee. He is a Former Chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (2023–2025), having represented the industry through a period of significant geopolitical and regulatory change.
Prior to joining The Caravel Group, Angad was a Principal at KKR, where he focused on private equity investing and established and led KKR Capital Markets Asia.
In recognition of his contributions to public service and the Hong Kong community, he was appointed a Justice of the Peace by the Hong Kong SAR Government in July 2024.

Captain Saurabh Varshney is the Head of the International Maritime Institute (IMI), Greater Noida, where he leads with unmatched expertise in maritime training and seafaring operations. An alumnus of TS Rajendra (1983–85 Batch), he began his career with Scindia Steam Navigation and went on to sail with Wallem Ship Management and V Ships across a wide range of vessels including general cargo, bulk carriers, timber carriers, multi-purpose ships, and oil and chemical tankers. He earned his Master FG Certificate in 1994 and took command in 2000, accumulating over 15 years of sailing experience on merchant ships between 1985 and 2001.
Since joining IMI in 2001, Capt. Varshney has delivered more than 14 years of teaching across pre-sea, post-sea, modular, and simulator-based competency courses. He assumed leadership of IMI in 2014 and has since been instrumental in its rapid growth, strengthening its reputation as a premier maritime training institute in India. Approved by the Director General of Shipping (DGS) as faculty for both pre-sea and post-sea courses, Capt. Varshney continues to advance maritime education with vision, resilience, and a commitment to industry readiness.
