His extensive experience spans across bulk carriers, general cargo, and multipurpose ships. In addition to his time at sea, Capt. Tikku has worked ashore for a year in a container terminal and for nine years in vessel operations and training with a major container line.

A Master Mariner from the 1980-81 batch, Capt. Tikku brings over 25 years of maritime expertise. His association with IMI began in 2016, where he has been teaching various competency and STCW courses.

He has been serving as Chief Engineer since 2003, managing the operation and maintenance of diesel engines, electrical systems, and various ship machinery. His expertise includes handling diesel engines, electrical generators, HVAC systems, refrigeration, and hydraulic equipment. He is well-versed in the preparation and execution of planned maintenance systems, and dry-docking procedures, and ensuring compliance with international safety standards. Viraj has worked on crude oil tankers, bulk carriers, and refrigerated cargo ships for renowned companies like Wallem Ship Management, Chevron and NYK Ship Management.
