Enrollment & Eligibility Qualification:

• A ten-plus-two certificate with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) with a minimum of 60%, or a B.Sc. 60% in the final year.
• A minimum of 50% in English in ten-plus-two or 10th level and fluency in written and spoken English or necessary.
• The applicant must not be more than 20 years old if appearing for 12th grade and more than 22 years old for graduates.
• The applicant must pass an Open-NET Examination conducted by IMI and be medically fit for seafaring.

Program Structure

The program comes in two main phases:

Pre-sea Training: 12 months:

This is a residential program at our Institute in specialized fields like navigation, seamanship, ship construction, ship stability, regulations, and essential life skills. Successfully completing this phase gives you a Diploma in Nautical Science from the Indian Maritime University.

Onboard Training 18 months:

you get the chance to gain practical experience at sea while doing a Distance Learning Programmed with IMU. Successfully completing this phase gives you an Advanced Diploma in Nautical Science.

Conclusion

Following the completion of your Advanced Diploma, you will complete a 4-month post-sea course and then successfully pass the subsequent exam to attain a Second Mate CoC. This certification permits you to work on any Foreign Going Merchant Ship, as soon as you get the required experience and CoCs, you can go on to be a Chief-Mate, then a Captain, then a Master of an FG Ship.
